Further information on the correct disposal of batteries and energy-saving lamps can be found here.

Disposing of energy-saving lamps correctly

Correct disposal: Fluorescent lamps must never be disposed of with household waste or as waste glass. In addition to municipal collection points, many specialist shops accept discarded lamps.

Broken lamps: In normal operation, lamps do not emit mercury. In case of breakage, the room should be well ventilated and left for at least 15 minutes. The shards should not be touched or vacuumed up.
Instead, the shards should be picked up with a firm paper or adhesive tape. Afterwards, they should be wiped with a damp cloth and put all together in a tightly sealable screw-top jar and taken to a collection point.
